Sustainability

Sugarland Shoppingtown is committed to reducing our foot print on the environment through several initiatives.

The centre has established an energy baseline to accurately determine how and where energy is used in the centre. With this information Sugarland has introduced initiatives such as changing to energy efficient lighting internally and the introduction of better controls on both the lighting and air conditioning systems. These initiatives have seen the centre significantly reduce it's energy consumption and subsequently it's impact on the environment.

Sugarland also offers retailers the facilities to recycle all paper and cardboard products. The introduction of water saving mechanisms have been introduced to reduce the volume of water used in the centres amenities. Sugarland has commenced a revegetation program that will introduce native Australian plants to gardens in an attempt to further reduce water consumption.

Through these and other initiatives, we hope to inspire others to introduce some simple changes that will help support a more environmentally sustainable future.
